Post custom hacks and enhancements for phpwcms here only. Maybe some of these things will be included in official release later.

hi cyrano

stupid question: your category contains more than 1 article? Or one article
with several contantparts? You know the difference?

I show you an example:

-Category1
-Category2
-Categroy News
--Article "News" (articleid=10)
--Article "bla" (articleid=11)
--Article "blabla" (articleid=12)
--Article "blablabla" (articleid=13)
-Category4
and so on

Article "News" contains a simple text contentpart with the Replacement-
Tag like this:
{TEASER_EX:news|-1:6:article_created|DESC:0:Seite:1:10}

The last number (10) is the article-id containing the RT itself, so this has
not to be showed in the newstlist...

All other Articles contain what you like. It's just important to fill in the
main title and the summary text - that's the information teaser_ex will
show in the list.

If you don't like the listing, you can create your own template. then you
have to activate this in every single article in news category.

Ah, something more to check: In the category settings the field "Anzahl an Top-Artikeln:"
should contain "-1"...

Hope this helps...

yes, for e.g.mynews section contains 35 contentparts within this structure level.

Or one article
with several contantparts? You know the difference?

I show you an example:

-Category1
-Category2
-Categroy News
--Article "News" (articleid=10)
--Article "bla" (articleid=11)
--Article "blabla" (articleid=12)
--Article "blablabla" (articleid=13)
-Category4
and so on

Article "News" contains a simple text contentpart with the Replacement-

{TEASER_EX:news|-1:6:article_created|DESC:0:Seite:1:10}

The last number (10) is the article-id containing the RT itself, so this has
not to be showed in the newstlist...

ok,i made another article in another structure level and want to show the content from structure level "news"...

All other Articles contain what you like. It's just important to fill in the
main title and the summary text - that's the information teaser_ex will
show in the list.

that will hit the nail.. :-) I never used the summary text - so now it gets more clearer, nothing to show, nothing to see :-)

If you don't like the listing, you can create your own template. then you
have to activate this in every single article in news category.

Ah, something more to check: In the category settings the field "Anzahl an Top-Artikeln:"
should contain "-1"...
couldn't be for e.g. "60" when using actually 35 articles?
Hope this helps...
i think so, you gave important infos! thanx again.

added: cool, summary text was the key...

This is great!
I've needed this for a year. :)

I need help with either a template of CSS coding.
http://wcms.nccbmwcca.org/index.php?index is my test site.

The page is one article with multiple content parts, one being the teaser RT.
I'd like to have the Title and subtitle be a smaller size.
I'd also like to have the space between the two tightened up.
I might also want to change the size of the summery.

I placed the sample css coding in the backend css file but obviosuly I did it wrong or it is in the wrong place.

Hi

Are you sure that this will work? In my opinion, teaser_ex is listing several
articles and not contentparts...

Anyway, have a look at phpwcms_template/inc_cntpart/articlesummary/list/sample.tmpl

Copy this file and rename it to mynewslist.tmpl. Change the file in the way
you like. Here you can use your own css-classes for other sizes of title and
subtitle, and so on. Don't forget to edit the article settings - change the
option Artikellisting from "Standard" to "mynewslist.tmpl" for every article in the category.

Hope this helps...

Below is how I assembled the article.
Image
It looks like the entire article would need to have it's own template, not just the content part. Any workaround or do I simply not understand?

no, no, no... You have a category called "calendar_of_events". In this category you have to change in every single article the settings to your new *.tmpl file...

OK, that'll work except I also have a menu item, Calendar of Events which will then be using the same template. I normally display the first article. I will just turn that off. Thank you!

erich_k4, this is the greatest thing I have ever seen for phpwcms. :D
Since I am not very good when it comes to phpwcms, this opens up so many possibilities. Now I just need to format my page a little better.

test site http://wcms.nccbmwcca.org
I'm using the template.

Code: Select all

[SPACE]<hr>[/SPACE]
<div>
<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0" width="100%">
<tr>
<td width="150" valign="top">
[IMAGE]<div><a href="{ARTICLELINK}">{IMAGE}</a></div>[/IMAGE]
[CAPTION]<div align="center">{CAPTION}</div>[/CAPTION]
</td>
<td width="10"><img src="img/leer.gif" border="0" width="10" height="1" alt=""></td>
<td width="98%" valign="top">
[TITLE]<a href="{ARTICLELINK}">{TITLE}</a><br />[/TITLE]
[SUB]{SUB}[/SUB]
[SUMMARY]<p style="margin:0">{SUMMARY}</p>[/SUMMARY]
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</div>
I need to get rid of the top link at the bottom of the columns.
I'd like to have have a border on the top and bottom of each article.
If anyone has any other suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them.

This is such a great RT.

Turn it off in the contentpart-settings.... ;-)

Just use simple HTML or CSS classes + styles...

Duh!
I notice that even though I have more. . . turned turned off it still shows up when using the teaser RT in certain parts.

I'm getting:

Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /web/_d/_a/_v/davelogic.com/public/www/phpwcms_template/inc_script/frontend_render/reptag_teaser_ex.php on line 145

Nothing showing up,,using MySQL 4.13...This error only occurs in Firefox but nothing still shows in IE...any ideas...

hi,
susi
