Thanks for that. I changed about 6 things that I thought might affect it to match yours and restarted Apache. It still does not work. This is so frustrating.
Thanks for your help. The only other thing I noticed is that you are running Apache 2. I am running version 1. Do you know if there are any issues with version 1?

try the sessiontest.php as described here.
if the sessiontest.php does not work as expected then ensure you have a TMP directory where your php.ini is expecting it.

I tried this. Nothing happens when I click the link, the page still says "no sessions set". I checked the directory specifed for session.save_path and there are session files there.
I'm not sure what this means.
