Feature request

If there is one feature that I'd like to see in the blog module, it's the replacement tag for displaying last blog posts with title and a number of characters from the post.
Say i want to have a small box that says latest posts in the blog and list last 5 titles of articles and first 100 characters of the message.
That'd be cool!
