the medium grey lines in diffrent thickness are a design effect ? :?

if not it fits more to make all in one size or minimum outside or arround all in the same size, and inside all same size to ... ;)

same is with the background / margins around ...

no offence

hi felix,

in diesem sinne danke

First of all I have noticed that saying ..'my 2 cents' is getting more and more populary also in this forum..I know what it means but it would be fun to know where it comes from...Why 2 cents and not 1 cent? Hmm, maybe there's no 1 cents coins?

But here's my 2 pixels...

I thought it was nicer before Jan...More 'design like' and not so squared and perfect..A nice little effect when everything else is 'perfect' up to every pixel..That was the first thing I noticed when I looked at your nice site for the first time a couple of weeks ago..And I still remember it! And didn't you have the 'lines' widther?

Well, it is only the designers that think about these small things on our sites - it can take hours to put a single pixel in it's place sometime..Atleast for me..Or maybe I am just slow!?

Greetings from Martin

hi snobba,
you say it.
yes, that was my first thinking to, to give it a look like a passpartout.
i am thinking about that the whole day, i think i've to enlarge the outer left and right and the top 2px, and the bottom margin (darker coloured)3px or so...
what do you think, this could be the perfectest solution?

my 0,1 turkish Lira

year i've done it. enlarge it from 7px to 9px left, right, top and bottom to 13px.

time will bring new resumes in this case i think.

the next step will be to make a css2/xhtml valid layout...

if the target is a non perfect design ... like the 1st one, it needs that style in all parts ... not only the lines ...

if you go the way with the nav in a very clean arrangement it comes with the diffrent sized lines to a break in the design and the stile of the page ...

maybe chaos is a concept but then is to follow up 100%, like everytime with a design concept

little example, because here it is more extreme then on other webdesign :

a lot of skins for bulletinboards looks on the first very fit, but if you look through it you see missmatches ...

- not all graphics from original a changed
- monster headers as eyecatchers
- blurry typing on buttons or headers
- total missmatch what someone called a colorsheme

most is clear to see what gfx people do by their own and what they take from others ... only by the diffrent quality;)

and is fantastic that most of that graphicdesigners don't can produce minigraphics in good quality ...

so back to the mainthing .... ;)

a good webdesign results from some things needed and have to match together:

- a good idea / concept for it
- a good colorsheme
- an individual style (through the total project)
- if some text on gfx is need, it has to be clear to read
- same with other text ( a clean css help a lot)

thats the main things, it give more things are more or less important on webdesign, but i don't want burnout your brains ... ;)

if you follow up this absolut main points you get minimum a acceptable design

my personal style is not to hit everybody with my portfolio or to run to each gfx-competion on the web ... but trust me i know from what i'm talk :)

i'm new here on wcms but i think during the time my work talk 4 itself ... (<- this is the way i like more then big advertising or shouting)

at moment maybe the experimental template 4 wcms and that 4 IPB at open.ones are must be enough ...

i work on it if i've time ;)

in the last weeks i was very ill and is not all fine now with my health ... so daywork has more importance than something most people call a hobby :D

but some free templates 4 wcms are in the pipeline ... be patient

feelX - you do talk a good game but seam to be on a soapbox shouting your views at all whom would listen. This may not be the most effective nor most welcome way of preaching your knoledge. As i have said, you talk a good game based on your personal views, these views sound rather 'safe' 'conformist': text book responses for a world in steady state. perosnally I don't give a hoot if jan's lines are off by a minimal amount here or there. the site has a freash feel with some brave desisions to style that i don't see on the breadcrumbs you have left for us.
honestly I have no wish to offend anyone and do understand you points, but these are your opinions and as i read them I can't see you leaving allowing too much room for creativity and experimentation in the fear that they may compromise perfection.

in all this seriousness i almost forgot who i was...
so, there was this monkey his friend a lion and the lions pet: a giraffe all sitting in a bar drinking tequilla slammers....

@ pSouper

but i have not say i'm the greatest or whatever the most people shout in that business :/ ... that don't was my personal style and don't become mine ...

and i wasn't rude or unfriendly ... where is your problem ? why you attack me ? or my critic ? or my work ? you have had a bad day ? mine you have changed ... thx very much

i'm only a manual worker has learned classic and modern skills ...

i make printgfx & -design now around 20 years and webgfx & webdesign over 12 years ... seems like no knowledge :D

and i'm not to arrogant to share some of my skills and expirences ...

and now to webdesign mistakes or rules, search the web ... are lot of informations to find ... the most gfx- or design-people tell the same things i write upside ? we are all idiots ? our customers too ?

and if you like cheapshots you can get one back ... your webpage (http://www.jayenne.homeip.net/) don't show great or genius graphics or webdesign ...

you are now happy with your trolling ? and answers you get for ?
