upgrading older installation

Post by kentfx »

My web provider (in Canada) has included an installation of phpwcms on my new site, but it's version 1.1-RC4 27-08-2004.

I'm very enthusiastic about the system -- it appears to be a major improvement over the Joomla that I'm accustomed to. But I see that it's actually past version 1.3 now. How important is it to upgrade to the current version -- not so much for security as for improved features? And if one should do that, just how is it done? My web provider offers no help in this.

If you have not produced much/any "content" (ie. "just installed") you might be better served to just do a fresh installation of the latest version (and a "newer" version is just around the corner, from now).

Thank you. I just took DeXXus's advice and deleted the old version of phpw..., then installed the newest one. It was definitely a good idea. This thing is very impressive all the way around.
