wich version for fresh stable install?

Post by kroom »

[UPDATE] Always use SurceForge.net
http://sourceforge.net/projects/phpwcms

Sorry, but searching the forum didn't help me.
Only a simple question: wich is the most (updated AND stable) release of phpwcms? 1.2.6 or 1.2.8 with patch G?
I want to do a fresh installation. I need a stable and secured version rather than the very latest, if it's unstable.
Thanks for answers and for work of all developers and forum people.

Best regards,
Cristiano

WELCOME kroom !!!

You should definitely install the ~latest~ build "20062011_pre129.zip" dated 20-Dec-2006 from this link:
http://www.phpwcms.org/release/nightly-build/

It is stable and ~most~ secure. Being -NEW- here... you won't even notice -or- care that some of the "coming" features just haven't been completely implemented, YET.

Thanks so much, DeXXus, for the fast and complete answer :D
About "coming" features... I'll try to live without them, for now

I think this wonderful project (I especially like the "content parts" mechanism) is somewhat penalized by lack of synchronization between official information sources... but yes, I know it's very hard to develop, documenting, and keep newbies informed.

Thanks again, have a good day.

oh, last questions:

1) can I use whatever form generator I want? no more problems with act_formmailer.php?
2) what about Files & Folder settings in 20062011_pre129? folder names sometimes are different from what described in the docu: http://www.phpwcms-docu.de/installation_en.phtml

thanks.
:)

Hi kroom,
1) should I delete phpwcms_code_snippets directory in this release, also? is still a potential security hole?
I would delete this folder If you don´t use any snippet of it.
2) can I use whatever form generator I want? no more problems with act_formmailer.php?
There we have a little doc using the custom template: http://www.phpwcms.de/forum/viewtopic.php?p=69503#69503
3) what about Files & Folder settings in 20062011_pre129? folder names sometimes are different from what described in the docu:
You can use the old folder names. At setup or in your conf.inc.php you can switch the folder names.

1. Hint: If you ran the setup, please rename/copy the generated setup.conf.inc.php via ftp to the the config/phpwcms/conf.inc.php

2. Hint: New <ul><li> based Navigation NAV_LIST_UL:
Basic stuff: http://www.phpwcms.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12165
And added in V1.2.9pre: http://www.phpwcms.de/forum/viewtopic.php?p=80423#80423
Basic Navi CSS: http://www.phpwcms.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12716

3. Templates: http://www.phpwcms.de/forum/viewtopic.php?p=77047#77047

Thankyou very much.
I hope this topic will be useful for other (confused ) users.

Don't say you don't have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michaelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein. - H. Jackson Brown -

Thread is outdated. Always use releases available on SourceForge.net:
