I have pictures uploaded on my private file. I can see them and when I click upload they appear and look good.
The picture is under the folder "Test" and has name "world.jpg"
I have placed the following post on the template and saved it.
{IMAGE:Test/world.jpg}
However when I look at the webpage the picture doesn't show up. I can see the frame where the picture should be and a little cross showing that there should be a picture, but nothing shows up.
My question is what am I doing wrong?

you can't call it like that.
{IMAGE:} refferences the path reletive to the 'pictures' directory and uses the phsyical name of the file.
Once an image has been uploaded you are in phpwcms country. 'test' is a virtual directory and 'wolrd.jpg' is a virtual name. try to view the situation thus...
If you use the upload through the file system you must use the image based 'content parts' exception: If you know the physical name of the directory and file you can use the replacement tags.
If you upload to a specific directory without using the phpwcms file system you will already know the path/file and can use that with replacement tags. Beware though, this file is still NOT in the database and will NOT show up in the file system. any phpwcms function that uses the database to gather images will not find this image.

you can call the image that the DB reffers to though.
the image is stored in 4 places.
1: the uploaded image is stored in phpwcms_filestorage/your user ID number
2: content/images... if the image is already in use in an article. and it's size is that as shown in the article
3: phpwcms_tmp/thumbs_list... this is the thumbnail of the image
4: phpwcms_tmp/thumbs_preview... this is the image that popsup when the image in an article is clicked (only when set as 'click to enlarge')
whichever option you chose you must remeber that the image now has a new name to one it had when you uploaded it - and it is har dto remember it too
