Best set of current instructions for upgrading from

Post by fnord »

I've spent a few hours trying to find the correct way to upgrade a older install of phpwcms up to the current version. I have searched the forums for hours and checked out the upgrade information on the docusite but have found myself in doubt that I have the combination of files and instructions to complete this task.

I am currently running Release 1.1-RC4 27-08-2004 and want to be running 1.2.6.

I've tried starting with the file "phpwcms_update_27.08.2005-27.04.2006" but right before I started the update I realized it was a year off of my version (2004 instead of 2005). Is this just a typo or are there actually two different RC4 releases exactly one year apart?

I'm sorry to post such a naive question but with so much information here (and some of it conflicting) I'd like to start with the best chance of success.

Thanks in advance for any help or pointers to the appropriate thread which might help me out.

I had the same question, but I think you want this page...

http://www.phpwcms-docu.de/update_to_dev._1.1.x.phtm

There would not have been two versions of 1.1-RC4 released in the same year; so don't worry too much about that; the instructions on the page above look pretty good - just hope that it works!

EDIT: ooh, but now I see what you mean... (this page).

I too have an 04 date; 27/08/04 - it must be just a typo, right?

Possible typo...

Post by fnord »

I assume it must be a typo but I'm a little concerned about just diving in if I've got the wrong files.

To be honest, I love phpwcms but the challenges involved in staying up-to-date almost make me want to try another CMS.

Can anyone verify if we've found the right files?
