Fault on Step 1 with database problems

Post by grantdutoit »

hi,

on step one i have to insert my database information. so i enter it the same way as i have done for typo3. it keeps coming up with some red text:

Please proof your database settings. There might be some mistakes.

i have used these settings before and they work. why does it not make the database?

How are you formatting your entry ? Are you putting in localhost, or an ip address, or a URL like db33.myhost.net ?
There should be no need for "http://" !

the Mysql host was set up as : localhost
username: root
userpassword: *********

as i said, i did setup other systems that use the sql database and they work with the details i typed in for phpwcms. i also tried various versions and have re-done the system a num,ber of times. my first installation with phpwcms1.1.rc4 - i think it was that - worked. i noted those settings and duplicated them but it does not work even after using the same version.

any advice?

Ahh i just noticed this sentence. I hope YOU have made the database... phpWCMS does NOT! It only creates the necessary tables within an already created database. If I've mis-interpreted again... my apologies in advance.
