content part search doesn't follow given parameters

hello

i just created an article and added the content part search so it works as a search page, but it is not following the parameters i used when created the content part (results per page, template, previos/next, etc) what am i doing wrong, how can i fix it?

Yes this content part has needed attention for a long time.

results per page - "known issue" (over two years old) with no resolution yet

Suggested solution by some is to use the Mod referred to here (SOMP):
