I would like to follow up on this old post because I am having the same problem and do not see any other references to it in the forums. I have a dedicated hosted server running about 15 sites. This is my first running phpWCMS, but I have plans to run 5+ with phpWCMS.

The phpWCMS site will have a very quick response for the first couple of pages but then the page load will just hang. The page takes several minutes or never loads. I do not have this problem when logged in to the admin section. And it occurrs if I am logged in in another window or not logged in. It happens on a Mac and PC, Firefox and IE, and from a DSL and Cable connection. No other sites using a MySQL db have this prolem.

Any suggestions?
And where can I find an explination for the cache options on the edit articles pages?

How about enabling all PHP errors & notices ?
What are your server/site "error logs" showing ?
Is it pages that rely on certain "content parts" (types) or DB accesses?
Can you provide links to anypages that consistently do this?

Very little-->http://www.phpwcms-docu.de/index.php?creating_articles
cache (optional): setup the cache timeout can be from 1 minute up to 1 month. check the box if you don't want to use the cache for the specified article. standard mena [sp. - "means"] the conf.inc.php value will be used!

Since overwriting all of my files with the latest version, my
'/index.php' page loads very slow. All my other pages appear to be normal.

Edit: I thought it was my RSS feed and it's template, but now I don't think so.
Edit again: I turned off the RSS feed and the page loads much quicker.
