IE 7.0 beta preview OUT!!!

Post by Kosse »

A good news? Bad news?
Time will tell... and let's ~ not ~ discuss this here plz ;)
Anyway, lets look at our sites (and css's) made with /* *html # and so on...

download here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie7 ... irect.mspx

Crossing fingers (just installing it right now)

EDIT:

first, the bad news:
- have to relaunch the comp' after install (don't like that)
- some fonts are still blury (maybe because it's beta?)
- complicated css tricks (rounded borders with js and so...) don't work well

second:good news;
- works perfect, quick tabs are cool
- has a very nice zoom feature (bye bye css for visually impaired, at least the increase font feature, this one works, is user friendly and also increases images)
- finally ~praise praise~ tab navigation implemented!
- quick browsing
- and LAST but NOT LEAST: "normal" css are ok! nothing to change, tested like 10/15 sites I made, all well (uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuf...)
- nice print function (really, it fits the page) :D
- PNG supported ! (so finally nice smooth borders)
- CTRL + is for bigger image CTRL - to zoom out, sounds... familiar? :D

things to be seen as cool or not:
automatic rss addition

Conclusion (in a hurry, like 10 minutes looking at it):
- firefox might be in trouble... ms has done some nice efforts here, (and god knows I'm not specially a fan), overall a good impression, they took a lot of the goods things from FF and Opera and such, with the big advantage it's MS on MS (I mean IE on windows).
- some pple are not going to like it as apparently some ajax sites have trouble + as said complicated css don't fit...

story to be continued... for sure!

Cheers

From http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/
To uninstall Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview and return to Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP

1. Click “Start,” and then click “Control Panel.”
2. Click “Add or Remove Programs.”
3. Check “Show Updates” at the top of the dialog box.
4. Scroll down the list to “Windows XP – Software Updates,” select “Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2Preview,” and then click "Change/Remove."

If "Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview" does not exist, run %windir%\$NtUninstallie7bet2p$\spuninst\spuninst.exe. You need to have "view hidden folders" enabled. %windir% is your Windows installation directory, which is normally 'C:\Windows' on most systems.

Hi trip,
I don't think so.
IE7 comes as an update.

Yes, ~but~ it does wierd things. Here's how to experiment in "standalone":

UPDATE: IE7 Standalone Launch Script
Found another improvement to using IE7 standalone (non-install) while maintaining IE6:

Found out there are some bugs with IE 7.0 when ur in the backend,
like it does not work with file list content part;
it fails to add from the displayed files (that are in file center) to the file list links. Guess has somethig to do with wrong js interpretation?
