Where to host phpwcms??

Post by bskov »

Hi

I've installed the cms on my PC and it looks like a really nice system and easy to use...

BUT... where can I host it ?? - I don't have my own webserver, and can't seem to find any webhotel that supports imagemagic and ghostscripts.

if you know some cheap - but good - webhotels (preffered in Denmark) that supports phpWCMS I would like to know.

Heelo Brian,

There is no absolue need for IM or Ghost! Any PHP Hoster with at least 1 database is sufficent!

There is one hoster explained on the docu site

thanks...

Is there some functions that will not work properly when IM and GS is missing ???

Many hosting services will only work if you make the following modification. It took me several days of work until i found it out:

Hi,

- Grafical Text don´t work. [EDIT] work with GD2[/EDIT]
- img-zoom don´t work. [EDIT] work with GD2[/EDIT]
- Generated Thumbnails don´t work. [EDIT] work with GD2 [/EDIT]

It isn´t a good idea to start without a grafical engine. But if you dont´t use pictures it is ok. [EDIT]If GD2 are enabled it will work [/EDIT]

- Grafical Text don´t work. .. but with the GD ... it does
- Generated Thumbnails don´t work... but with GD they do *plopp*

And GD support is mostly enabled in any php version ...

Hello Brian,

a little bit tricky

Phone up your candidate-hoster and ask how much memory they provide as standard in PHP ... 16Mb is well ... 32 Mb is *BOOM* :)

When they use 8MB thats a little narrow for php calculating with bigger images .. Server runs out of memory quite soon ..

But thats only for bigger images out of the phpwcms filestorage ..

Hi Brian,

I use one in Switzerland though I'm located in Belgium, everyone's happy about it (10+ clients) and I host only phpwcms sites on it, works fast and it's relatively cheap. I'll pm you the url so I don't look like I'm doing publicity for them ;)

Cheers
