I would like to help with the CVS aspect any way I can. I am no expert on it but I need a good reason to learn :)

The reasoning behind offering different hacks to phpwcms on another site would not be to split things up as much as a way for people to distribute their hacks for those who might be able to use them. In my case I am making a blog functionality which lets users have a consistant means of blogging instead of manually having to add each part of the blog and such. This makes an rss feed of the blog a little more specific for a blog. The reason I am explaining this is to say that someone else might want to use this functionality and so it would be good if they could. Also I am learning a ton about phpwcms (and plan to write about it :)) and having a little incentive that someone else might use my code only makes me want to work that much harder.

The other reason for a repository of hacks would be for businesses who create a functionality or custom solution. It would give them a place to share what they did so others might be able to use it. I say this b/c the company I work has been looking for a good cms framework to base other projects off of and phpwcms looks to be it. If someone else made module or something that we could use or vice versa it would help in a very practical way.

So... after way too much typing ;) I just wanted to make sure you understood what I was thinking about and to let you know how I think it might be helpful. If you feel it is not a good idea I totally understand and I will defintely give you whatever help I can. I will also dedicate a bit of my site to tutorials and such that people can look at for tips to get started making their own changes/features as they need them so they can help in learning more about the cms and in turn help you with support and eventually development (when you are ready for it of course).

Thanks for taking the time to discuss this kind of stuff and please feel free to request specific work to be done or a tutorial to be written.

@Oliver, you already use the best client ;) but I'm blindly bias of course
@ everyone else: http://www.tortoisecvs.org

Every user has individual needs that require bespoke code and as Oliver say's how many of these perfectly legitimate requests, however important to you, will actually and honestly be of use to eveyone?
IMHO: I don't think it's unfair to assume that most of these are either completely possible to achieve with either the existing {php:} rep-tag OR a custom written rep-tag. I would be over the moon for the additional functionality the Oliver has offered to create [one day]. I would however like to add that 'third party hacks' can enhance the popularity and expand the use of a product to potential users that would otherwise be forced against thier will [and to greate personal loss ;) ] to consider other CMS's.

There are already and will oblviously be a few of ideas that are designed to extend the backend for maximum flexability for the article and this is a valid request by users for oliver to 'consider'. (I only say consider as Oliver has the right to implement any/all/none of these within the Relese-candidate should he wish). I would like to add though, that you buy a Ferrari because it is the best at being a Ferrari, you don't buy Bently Turbo and expect to change it in to a Ferrari, or visa versa.
I'm sure a few would then add Rocket on the back, a Crane on the roof, tank tracks and a hovercraft skirt to suit all there needs. Some things just add more cost than value.

That's my 2cents on the subject. [and at the moment that too costs more that it's value ;) ].

Great! Cool new features.. especially the menu's and newsletter. It would be an honour to help designing some templates.

Hello Oliver,
I have read your wish for the documentation. I think the same way, but as I tried to give this community a publish area on my site, but no one has done any new part to the docs.

I whould like to do a little bit more for the docu, but as I don't know if anybody does the same at home which I would begin to write, anything goes on.

As with the programming of phpwcms, the documentation has to be managed too. All guys who like to write some stuff for it, should know, who will do what. I wrote that some time before.

I did a small chapter with the replacementtags I knew, but all of them I picked up from this forum. So, writing a complete docu is for me, I had to know how this software really works. But this, I do not.

We all have to think about this: A small guideline to what has to be done and a moderator, who give the parts to someone.

I saw new thread from psouper where he asks for a tutorial. This will be another step for doing the same again as with the wiki for the docs.

Maybe this will be way to coordinate all for the docs: Make a new forum for all questions about the docs, give moderator to this forum and she or he has do manage a aspects like who will write which part of the docs and who will translate to which language. Maybe, this will be the first step to a good docu for phpwcms.
