error message on CSV import

if I try to import a csv file with newsletter recipients I encounter the following:

the system recognizes mail und name but at the bottom I get this message

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: gzcompress() in /home/wwwusers/www.myURL.de/htdocs/site/include/inc_tm ... t.tmpl.php on line 111

any help?

is this a serverproblem? does the server not support gzcompress() ?
