This problem has me beyond puzzled. In fact, I don't even remember what my initial problem was but it has since compounded itself severely. In an effort to solve my mess I deleted all files from my root directory with my host, and also deleted all of my phpmyadmin tables. With a clean slate I downloaded and extracted a new copy of phpWCMS 1.2.3-DEV to my computer and ftp'd it to my host, reinstalled, recreated myadmin tables, set my permissions to 777 and 666 per installation instructions, and updated the config file.
Now, when i go to login there are no backend language files, in the templates section, there are no css files available, and when creating articles I get a number of errors that look as follow:
