Yes its true... Easy to manage but really pain when are you try to do specific things like SUMMARY. Teaser:alias its an brilliant rep tag but doesn't work for me...WCMS is a fuckin brilliant piece of code but i dont understand why the heck does not have a logic. I mean i must fight with rep tags such {CONTENT} or {LEFT}{RIGHT}{HEADER}{FOOTER} all the time untill to achieve what i really want with a SO common thing like to have a category and articles and i want the page showing all the articles with the summary and a link.
Anyway i think Oliver must improve those SIMPLY things for a common user and then WCMS will be the #1 CMS (since i try *CMS* like mambo jumbo or NUKE and the I CANT SEE WHAT THIS SOFTWARE WANTS FROM ME *XARA**YA).
Well after all WCMS is a far away the best CMS (to the world of mediocity)
and i still using it. But really i cant figure out why a talented programmer like Oliver he misses things like "Please make my life more easier"
I manage a site called Music Police and lays at
http://mpolice.blackwhitemag.net and in this time i am working to transport this to the WCMS. Phew...Limitations of WCMS is not a really barrier but must work more.
Conclusion: WCMS is fast, reliable, Easy to manage, built with a human logic but i think something missing...
Cheers

More support to OG?WCMS is fast, reliable, Easy to manage, built with a human logic but i think something missing...

He said it several times, more support = more time to code.
Each one, according to his own capacity, has to see how he can support it better (forum, mods, thoughts, improvements, donations...).
But the man has to live and he provides us with this wonderful -yet sometimes "a pain in the ***" (no pain no gain)- tool, up to each one of us to react positively to it.
Also, with every solution there is a choice to be made, so sometimes something that appears easy isn't that easy to code or to think about, thus the reaction of the users is vital to the coder. From time to time one will ask/suggest nice features, sometimes not.
One of the good things of phpwcms is that it helps pple with little understanding of what code is to get through, and it helps pple with more knowledge to get further.
I've learned a lot with/through it and frankly, that is also what gives me a kick. I'm not counting the numerous hours spend in finding a solution, I'm considering them as some kind of plus for the future and because I've learned something, sometimes modesty (I can't do it, lack of knowledge, I can't do it, lack of intelligence), sometimes coding (aaah! this how you do it, yessss I did it, let's share my knowledge), sometimes solidarity (thank you forum!), sometimes admiring (WOW

I must agree with your initial post ,

Hi Kosse
Another brilliant think about wcms is this lightspeed reply forum. i totally agree with you with everything you said but i think (when i push my head to the wall) the issue *extract the summary and the link and show all articles in a category* is the missing item of this magnificent script.
As i mention before the Music Police is a easy part since its not complicated, crystal clear categorized and simply. But my other (and most important project) called black:white and lays at http://www.blackwhitemag.net is more complicated, with more content at front page and i REALLY need this *summary+link* feature since is a magazine i publish in Greece.
And after long days with wcms i realized that it fits for me as a "swiss knife" and also as a way of knowledge.
Really i wouldnt try to criticise the script or Oliver with my post but i think and another project was started like this years ago: Linux.
I know its hard to programming and listen the community at the same time but i think this is the real joy of open source
Greetings to you and to this great wcms community...

Yes, my opinion too! I'm looking for the same thing. It would be nice to setgrontas wrote:the issue *extract the summary and the link and show all articles in a category* is the missing item of this magnificent script
a value for the displayed articels per page (f.e. 10) and forward/backward
buttons if there are more then 10 articels in the category... Like the
guestbook does... This would be an nice "News-Category"...
greetings

Hi erich_k4,
btw: it doesn't matter what flag I choose on your site: Only the page title and the navigation changes to the corresponding language. The content text remains in english. Is this intended to be?
An example is :
http://www.kmedv.at/sbm/cms/index.php?de_vacuum_process
It is a little bit language mixed...

I'll give it a try, soon. But one question:erich_k4 wrote:Take a look at the TEASER_EX Tag
http://www.phpwcms.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7503
What happens if there are more articles in the category than in
"number of articles you want to show" set? Will there be a navigation
like in the guestbook?
Greetz, tinoo
But now....
The new TEASER_EX syntax is now:
{TEASER_EX:alias:n:np:title}
alias: category alias
n: no of articles to show (-1 if you want all articles)
np: no of articles per page (-1 if you want only one page)
title: e.g. Page or Seite
Example:
{TEASER_EX:en_general
3:Page No}
displays all articles (n=-1) from the category en_general (alias=en_general) and three articles per page (np=3) starting with "Page No ..1.. 2 3"
The demo-site http://www.kmedv.at/sbm/cms/index.php?en_news is updated, the updated download for TEASER_EX Tag will be available after weekend.
Hope this is what you are looking for....

Hello erich and the other brothers. Nice update the Teaser_ex rep tag. Fast and easy but please tell me why you made the syntax look like an Einstein equation?
You can take a sneak at http://mpolice.blackwhitemag.net heavy use of Teaser_ex and totally based on wcms. Finally i think wcms is sometimes a pain in the *ss but worh it. And thanks to this great forum and the whole community magic things eventually happened!
But i have another question... I have a table with two cells. {CONTENT} to one cell {LEFT} to the other. Can i split the teaser_ex query to fill both cells automatically? I mean if you see at reviews or interviews at Music Police site i split manually the interviews category to interviewsII and so on... Any solution?
Cheers brothers and thanks once again
