The Fontizer - Graphical Text made easy

Post non-phpwcms related topics here - but I don't want to see "hey check this or that other cms". Post if you have a point or worthwhile comment, don't post just to increase you post count!

Oliver,

we all know that you are very busy but may I ask for more details. The integration of something like Fontizer would solve a couple of problems here. We are trying to publish ancient text using a mixture of latin and non-latin fonts in a tablelike ordering. So do you plan to integrate it as a MOD or as part of the core? Is it possible to have such a tool (very) soon? :wink:
Tried to contact Jérôme some days ago but got no answer yet.

If you prefer we can talk about the details via PN.

Hey hiegl,

I am just working on an answer for you ;). I am busy, too, I can only work on private projects at night or early morning, but I am looking at this specific project.

@Oliver: If you implement the code conversion tool, would you share it with me so that I can use it with the Fontizer, or will it be a pre-fontizer thing that you implement directly into phpwcms?

Hi Jérôme,

I will share it with you :) it's a pleasure. It's a really good class that I have found and may solve a lot of problems. I'm planning (.....;-)) to normalize all text input with it to get UTF-8 for all output.

Planning is always good, Oliver ;). Perhaps we can talk about it (IM) one of the next days. As you are really busy (as usual), you could explain to me what you mean exactly and I will try to implement it. Does this sound like a plan?

@Jérôme,
nice to hear! So there is hope for me to get a solution. Eagerly awaiting your answer. :P

@Oliver
Have to mention that this feature is something I could not find in any other CMS. Or do you know about something like GT-generation in another CMS?

I am a pioneer *sing*. No, I'm not - there are other attempts of graphical text replacement, but these are mostly based on javascript and CSS - my method, wich is used in phpwcms relies only on server side scripting and provides only the images.

The advantage of the class is certainly that it is a class and should be easy to implement in other projects.

I just hope that people will not steal the code :?

I can implement it in phpwcms if there are wishes for it.

* Added support for text charset conversion (idea and hint by Oliver Georgi). This should be one problem less for the integration into phpwcms, one day.

The dropcash campaign goal for version 1.0 is reached - the release is almost ready, just one thing missing. I'll keep you informed.

Many thanks to the contributers, your donations are highly appreciated and help me in my daily life.

PS: There's no need to stop donations, these will still be appreciated and honoured with access to the newest betas.

As mentioned in the firs post, the Fontizer itself is not at all phpwcms related.

Oliver Georgi has got the current version of the script and is currently working on the implementation into phpwcms.
