Handheld-Gamers.Com
Hi
I've made a site with phpWCMS and it's still under construction but I think it's now ready enough for showing it. There isn't very much content right now but more will be coming.
Tell me what do you think

I would redesign the nav_table_column. It's the standard design and not the look of the page.
The top-banner is not really good!

Is the banner any better now? I'll do something for the menu too...Rainer G wrote:I would redesign the nav_table_column. It's the standard design and not the look of the page.

A little bit better
i would make an gif with transparence from the gizmondo, or backgroundcolor to set of the backgroundcolor from the content.

What do you think about the menu now? Does it look better?
Maybe I make the gismondo pic a gif later.
EDIT: how do I change the font colors in the menu I couldn't find them in conf.template_default.inc.php

For colors, fontsize, fonts,... etc. look at the frontend.css:
Code: Select all
.nav_table, .nav_table a, .nav_table a:link, .nav_table a:active, .nav_table a:visited, .nav_table a:hover {
font-family: Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;
font-size: 10px;
color: #4A5966;
font-weight: normal;
text-decoration: none;
}
.nav_table a:hover {
text-decoration: underline;
}
.nav_table_active, .nav_table_active a, .nav_table_active a:link, .nav_table_active a:active, .nav_table_active a:visited, .nav_table_active a:hover {
font-family: Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;
font-size: 10px;
color: #4A5966;
font-weight: bold;
text-decoration: none;
}

With orange links you mean the red links of the articles? I changed them. And the menu background is now changed too.trip wrote:Hi
I would move the google ads to the bottom or the side...
looks like the site is an advertising site fromt the word go....???
apart from that, your menu needs sorting out...and I would change the orange links to fit the site look and feel...

I'm not really designer-trained. So I wont call these as "comments". But I'll speak as a user:
I see a very cramped-up site, where everything is like stick to each other.
It took me a while to figure out what is this site called (quite a bad choice of typeface for the branding).
Matrix-green doesn't work quite well with light blue. neither the background color. You might want to visit: http://www.colorschemer.com/online.html to get some good ideas of how colors work together.
My two cents: use a bit of cellpadding here and there, then some spaces between content parts. Tweak the color a little, then you will have a very useful site.

Anybody know how to set some space between the articles and to sides of the main content area?

Good choice of color! To set spacing between content parts, go to edit mode, enter the space length in pixels. See screenshot below:
To set the spacing between the sides of content area, if I were to explain, I would have to set up another instance of phpwcms to see how the original template is like (I have modified mine completely), so that might take some time... anyone has simpler answers here?
People, I begin to like this guy, he really took every bit of our suggestions and improve his site accordingly. Very good learning attitude. Let help him up as much as we can!

OK now I think it starts to be ready unless someone still has something to say about it.
Thanks for everyone that gave comments about the site and helped me to make it look better!
