PHPBB and PHPWCMS

Can PHPBB and PHPWCMS share user DB?
I want to create a site where main page shows plus 1 or 2 other pages, but the majority of content requires creating a user acct. I would prefer that users who register on the phpwcms website would not have to register a 2nd time in PHPBB.

If there is a way to get user info between the two DBs please instruct how to.

I think this would take some hacking, but it would be possible.

The problem is that you would have to hack one of the scripts seriously and deeply, you would have to change each and every db query.
