different page layouts

Hey, I don't know whether I'm overlooking something as a newbie, but is there any possibility to use different page layouts within one site?
Being able to use different templates is a cool feature but being able to use different page layouts would make it perfect.

It's in the pipeline - page layout and template_default vars will be extended for storing in database - so you can choose different combinations for any template.

I hope to prepare this until next weekend.
