I think, you can very easy use phpmyAdmin for any backup of you database. I have seen some backup scripts in php, but most of all do not function very well. So. doing backup manually is the best way.

On my Mac OS X I use this small app with easy interface: CocoaMySQL.

That's what I recommend. I tried to integrate an own one about 1 year ago - but phpMyAdmin is perfect. Maybe later...

Site Backup + Clean deleted files

Post by pierre.meli »

I made a couple of moves on same and between different servers with phpWMCS installations. I agree with the approach to basically:
  • 1. copy site to local disk and upload to new site
    2. backup/restore with phpMyAdmin
Nevertheless, I everytime had the problems that out of a few 1000 files (with FileZilla, > 1100 photos) 4 to 8 jpg-files could not been copied at all (critical error, delete, re-copy, reset status re-copy, ...) - no way to copy these files HASH...jpg.

What is the reason? I had to identify the missing photos and re-upload them with the file manager to re-insert them in the articel - not very comfortable.

Further, I have the following questions:
  • 1. Having 1111 files in \..filestorage and 2153 in \content\images, how are the two folders used exactley by phpwcms?
    2. Are photos not created on the fly by GD-2 (in my case) when a page is requested?
    3. how can I identifiy files that are marked deleted and delete them physically?
Thanks for your thoughts, Pierre
