Multilinguality

Post by habi »

In having some troubles to get my multilingual site to work I hope this would be solved in a more userfriendly way as it is know. I think that there should be only one sitestructure and a seperate page in the backend where you can set up your languages. Depending on the number of your languages the articlebackend should have a "Karteireiter"navigation (like the NAV_LIST_TOP sample in the docusite) where you can switch the language when you edit the articles. The first language should be the default so if in one language there is no article it can be replaced by the default article (or with a "no language page")

Furthermore it woud be cool if I can set publishdate (online/offline) in the contentparts too and not only on articlelevel

I meant this example:

and a possible solution could be:

The article ID's could be some sort of master ID and the concrete article can be found in a way articleID+langID

Duplicating structure in various languages

Post by El Toro »

In my experience it is very common that the structure of at website
is different in various languages.

Multilanguage support should of course offer the ability of having a multilangual document / structure, but more often the structure of the website will be different for every language, since a website often has a primary domestic target and a secondary international target.
