Shopping / eCommerce Funktion would complete this CMS...

Post by scalper »

Dear all,
what about implementing a shopping module into phpwcms? ... this would really enrich this nice cms and make it suitable for a lot more applications... right now I (and probably some more guys out there) have to use other complicated scripts to implement a shopping function...

I would really appreciate to see an ecommerce funktion in the near future and would love to develop it, but my php skills are quite low...
but what I can do is to write a concept for this function if anybody is helping me with the php...

Jeromé, Oliver, although you are quite busy - i know ;-) - think about it..
i would love to contribute at least something to phpwcms...

kind regards
Boris

Dear Pappnase,
of course you are right - there are in deed several os-scripts in the web - BUT - there are also hundreds of content management systems around and phpwcms - until now - fulfills my requirements best :!:

The idea behind my thraed was: If there is such a good cms - wouldn't it be great to have also a brilliant shopping module included in this system?

Wasn't it Olivers approach to do something new, although there are masses of other free cms around?

I already go in contact with Jérome about the "module thing" ... i am curious whether phpwcms will include such a module one day - would be great
I would like to support somebody with the development, but my php skills are not allowing me to start up somthing like this alone..
Best wishes
Boris

Hi scalper,

I support your request. Of course there are many shopping scripts, but ist ist extremely complicated to integrate them into a cms. And after working with phpWCMS you won't work with anything else ...

hello

please remember how old is phpwcms.
and that it is an one man show. oliver has included an module section but it needs a little that it's all ready to fix all that you don't need to edit to much in the source or better that you don't need change anything.

maybe somebody have the time and the fun to write one like the gt_mod from jerome wich will later implement in phpwcms.

well, such addon to the cms is not as easy as it may sound. writting a shopping module means writting a new script for it to match the cms, and shopping scripts usually take a long time to complete. There is the security issues that have to be scripted and well planned, the shopping cart, the checkout and everything. Since this whole thing is not done by a group, it would be very very time consuming/hard to do for only one guy.

who knows, maybe with good amount of donations this will get complete. For now tho, what I am doing to my website is that I am integrating the paypal shopping script with the phpwcms, right now i'm testing it and so far it looks good to me.

it's a very good idea tho, but very difficult to make in my opinion.
