Cached information?

Post by kacurtis »

I've got this weird problem that doesn't make sense to me. I made some changes to the font color in my default css, uploaded and then checked it. There was no change. So I cleared my cache and still no change, opened a new browser and went directly to the css, and the css was the old one. So I went and loaded the css in bbedit and verified that it was changed and saved it on my desktop. Then uploaded to the site. No change... cleared the cache and no change, quit the browser and tried again, still nothing. I deleted the css and went to the css directly, and it appeared... so I loaded the folder on the browser and the css was not listed... so it was not there, but showing up in two browsers. I tried a third browser and it was still there. Then I moved over to a windows machine and tried it and it was still showing up when there wasn't a file to show.

So my question is, is this a server issue or a phpwcms issue? I read here that there isn't a cache in the cms anymore, but I've been working with phpwcms on the same server and have never had this problem before, this is the first site that's running r213 though. All the other ones are older versions. :?:

Either a file is there or there is no file. Do you have a proxy server between you and the Internet?

If it made sense I wouldn't have asked someone. It was not there, but several browsers, with two operating systems kept loading the css like it was there... No proxy server, and I tried proxify.com to see if it was my computer, but I was getting a network timeout... maybe it's related somehow. I keep thinking if it's not phpwcms, then it's got to be my server that's storing the info.

The css is now showing the changes, so whatever was storing the info has finally updated, at least the page is looking correct.
