Understanding the "sample.tmpl" and problems with

I am not understanding perfectly the function of "sample.tmpl", which you can choice at the article-editors page. What does this file and how could i modify it?

I made alle the changes, which are described on "peperkorn-online" under "modifying the FCK-Editor" to have all the important styles of "frontend.css" in the editors window in the "styles"-box.

I changed
– "fckstyles.xml" (styles/code exactly like inPeperkorn)
– "fckconfig.js" (changing path to:

'../../../../phpwcms_template/inc_css/frontend.css' ;

but i am not sure about the part

because the folder "phpwcms_template" isnt such deep in hierarchie on the website.

Other problem:
Editing the Articles basic infos, the function "Showing Date" can not be desactivated. When i am desactivating the box and saving the article, the activated box "showing dates" appears again.
