Install problem

Post by crazypenguin »

I have tried to install phpwcms v1.3.3 and v1.3.5 (RELEASE 2007/12/05) several times. I get this error every time.

Code: Select all

Warning: require_once(./config/phpwcms/conf.inc.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/crazypen/public_html/lnxrx.com/wcms/login.php on line 29

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required './config/phpwcms/conf.inc.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/crazypen/public_html/lnxrx.com/wcms/login.php on line 29
MySQL (v5.0.45-community) und php v5.2.5

The dist.config.inc.php file doesn't look like it is populating upon install.

May I make a suggestion?

I just installed the latest version from scratch but couldn't find those install directions easily.
But I did find the install trouble shooting forum easily.
Maybe in the "What you should do first if you have problems!!!" list the first question should be "Did you follow these directions?" and have a link to those
directions.

I didn't and kept getting errors because I didn't change the permissions.

Just a thought.

But I am finally in the pool now I have to learn to swim. :D

However things going in your pool...

You should download the config files and push it up to /config/phpwcms/conf.inc.php

Things and swimming will be ok afterwards ;)

Everything worked out well - I even got light box working easily.

It was easier to reinstall than to upgrade. Very straight forward once I found the directions.

I have used many different cms systems and this one I keep coming back to.

The process of setting a site up makes more sense to my way of thinking than others.

Others may be easier, but not more productive in the end. And the forums are critical.

Strong resources like yourself can make the decision easy.
