Post by jopiezettie »

Hello,

I just take over a website from somebody how can not spend anymore time to this website. A thing that according to him should be done, is upgrading the phpwcms to the newest version.

I tried to find some easy howto, but till now i failed. Does somebody know one or can give a discription?

thank you

Update

Post by stemmen »

Hey JZ

All you have to do is download the new version and upload to your server. However, first take down the following files from the site to your PC:

1. frontend.css
2. template-layout
err... can't remember all. Check elsewhere in the forum or @ phpwcms.de (the docu-site)

NOW - I did all of the above and I have a problem...

My "layout" has changed. When I want to change the "layout" I do not get to select the radiobuttons for, e.g. placement and number columns.

Which file did I forget to download from the first site before uploading the new version???

DB

Post by stemmen »

I had a backup of my old DB and re-installed 1.3.3 with new DB and imported my old DB (I have now have 43 tables)

Still, my layout has not changed. It is still at the left on the screen and it should be in the middle.

See http://www.janlh.com

Which file did I forget to download along with frontend.css, etc.?

PS. JZ - I hope the above also helped you further. Do not update your site until someone has replied to this input.

Hi stemmen,

you have lost <table ...... align="center"...>
and if you kill this entry <noscript><a href="http://www.statcounter.com/" ..... the site is centered well.

Lost table

Post by stemmen »

Hi Knut (and others)

Yes - I lost table="center".

When I enter my "layout" in the backend it is empty:

Why? I must have forgotten some kind of file when upgrading.

hej stemmen,

I lost page layouts with every upgrade so far EVEN after using:

/setup/upgrade_pagelayout.php

while setup/update.

Seems to a bug (on some servers??) or so, but don't worry:

Set up a new layout and save as it was named before. Works always fine (to me)...

PS: You already know Skagen/Grenen webcam?
