What does top article count it mean?

What -1 or 0 does it mean ?

-1 --> all articles of a certain site structure level are listed
0 --> NO articles of a certain site structure level are listed

1 --> one article of a certain site structure level is listed
2 --> two articles of a certain site structure level are listed
and so on

even, if there are more articles published within that site level....

/template/inc_cntpart/articlesummary/list/sample.tmpl

Hi,
just tried out and if I choose "-1", there's only the first article headline shown in the listin view...

Any idea?
