{AUTHOR} in RSS feed content-part is always empty

Post by cyppher.nl »

hi guys,

The content-part template for the RSS feed content-part has been extended with the {AUTHOR} tag. This tag should render the author of the RSS feed item.
However, when parsing a RSS 2.0 Feed, the {AUTHOR} tags is always empty in the rendered page.

Does anyone know this issue?

After a little research it seems that the implemented SimplePie PHP class has a bug selecting the <author> XML node in the RSS feed (see method: get_authors() ).
As I'm not familiair with SimplePie I have no clue how to resolve this. The method should select the <author> node value and return it, so that the {AUTHOR} replacement tag in the content-part template is rendered with the actual feed item author.

Code: Select all

function get_authors()

Any hints on this one?
