New snapshots, but when will a new stable version come?

Post by jscholtysik »

Hi OG,

thanks for the many, many snapshots!! The last one was dated 10/22/2007 with enhancements for the shop module. But when will we see a new stable release with the promised enhancements of the fundraising campaign like an enhanced user administration and many more??

How many people install the snapshots really one by one?

Only for verification: These were the points of the fundable action:

* Usergroups
* Better user administration
* Usergroup based permissions
o read/write/view
o grant access to content in frontend/backend
o which modules can be access
* better frontend login
* frontend user administration/profile
* frontend user registration
* workflow: write/edit & publish & archive
* blog module for phpwcms
* global comments for article without need to add content part
* general module to see/edit all comments

Only a question... :roll:

Hi,

OG never will answer to such questions as we already know....

Since spring[summer] I am/we are still waiting for "fundable action" based enhancements --> especially regarding user management, hmm...

Have a look at vox.de [reddot] or prosieben.de [imperia] how ugly the pages are and mostly not working [not available] unless javascript/plugins and so on activated.

But on the other hand: there are many people working on these pages every day.

So, for me, only user management IS [still] missing and phpwcms will be somehow leading edge......

Hey guys...
Can only agree too :roll:
Sincerly, do you think I will always install/upgrade to
every single new snapshot.
I have better things to do with my life.
I will not even care until... the points of the fundable action are in there:
* Usergroups
* Better user administration
* Usergroup based permissions
o read/write/view
o grant access to content in frontend/backend
o which modules can be access
* better frontend login
* frontend user administration/profile
* frontend user registration

Hey Studio and Kosse: The very same here!

I still use my pimped 1.2.6.

But untill there is really anything new to phpwcms, I feel like my own version is by far more useful than those snapshots. I just take them as a some kind of progress bar. Been long time ago since I have installed a fresh phpwcms now...

Good to hear from you friends :)
Good to know we share the same opinions... 8)

Also... You will not be surprised if I tell you that... at 50, I decided to return to school, instead of waiting and waiting and postponing websites projects where a solid user and group management is needed.

Yes guys. I have been accepted and I am waiting to enter in January for the Big Trucks Driving School (5 months). Another passion I have since a kid, and that I share with my youngest son. :D :D :D

No more waiting after this....

I had the chance to be invited to an introductory 3000 KM trip to the US and I loved it so much :D :D

Just waiting to hit the road for good 8) :D :D
Nothing to loose :wink:

Cheers,

Yves

Hi Yves,

and so you can see, what a "good solution" phpwcms (and the great many snapshots) is.
You can do things, you would not have done, if the there were a version 2.0 ??? :D :D :D

In the meantime i'm learning to play guitar and baking my own sourdough-bread, translating the very good OS-eCommerce solution Magento to German lang and ... and ... and :wink:

Since i have learnd, to think positiv... under ALL circumstances, for me that are .... advantages :wink:

PS
My last fresh installation was a v1.3 ...
No update before the next stable version will come, with a 100% included login-solution. That means... much time for other "nice things" :wink:

And, by the way... i hope you will start a "live Blog" of your "Great Journey"!
Would'nt it be a good idea???

@ Pepe: By the time we see version 2.0...
I bet you a beer that you will already be one of these guitar heroes :D
and... I'll drive one of your Big Trucks and transport all your sound/lightning rigs across North/South America for your famous Pepe's 2009, World Tour :P :P :P

You can count on me :D I will stay connected. For sure. :wink:
My laptop with "Streets and Strips + GPS" will sure be my best friend 8)
Not sure about blogging? Not much my style (I think) :wink: But... who knows? :roll: :wink:

Let's blow that guitar Pepe !!! :P

OK Yves,
i will try harder, to become one of these heroes... and you will drive the biggest of my tucks!
And off course my "opening concert" will be in Quebec/Canada :wink:

Many of my old "Woodstock-friends" are death now.
Only some years... and i will be the LAST of these "boys", who have been there... "live" in Woodstock :cry:

"Patientia" is my "Muse" ans so i can live with another dozen of snapshots... :wink:

PS
By the way, lets give phpwcms a good chance... for my "Great 2009 World Tour" public-relations-internet-site in 25 languages, what do you think... as my PR-Manger???

Ohhh guys

OG can do what he wants, you always complain about it!
First he doesn't write a word in month and the whole world is crying for news and updates and progress details and so on. Then he is giving us just that, detailed information about the progress of his work, even with parts you can use right away and now it's wrong again.
Now you tell him, that the snapshots are useless, not welcome and whatever without the long awaited user and group management.
Did the fund raising campaign promise something? on schedule? Hombres! Come back to reality!
(Dreaming about Woodstock and Truck Driving and Guitar Heroes and stuff is allowed of course but I doubt if it's the right place here)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqxENMKaeCU
because it's important!

:shock: :P 8) :lol: :idea: :arrow:
<my_reality_here>My reality is that I have three kids to take care of... name it ! :twisted:</my_reality_here>
And I already vanished part of my life in expectations and expectations :wink:
Don't miss understand me ! PhpWCMS is the real powerfull CMS but which still misses this vital groups/users/ management (DOT).
[EDIT]and.. of course, an integrated ExData Mod.
This Mod is a must. One should not need to hack it in every time there is an updated version. [/EDIT] :wink: 8)
