Comparing CMS Systems at cmsmatrix.org

Post by jscholtysik »

Hi all,

this day I looked at http://www.cmsmatrix.org/ to compare phpwcms and other CMS systems.

Unfortunately they still take phpwcms 1.1RC4 for comparing... :-(

My question to OG: Is it possible for you to send them actual data for 1.3.3 or perhaps the next release?

Typo3 has the version 4.1.1 which is the actual release, Typolight has 2.4.0 at http://www.cmsmatrix.org/ ...

We should show the users, which status phpwcms now has, not the status of almost 3 years ago... ;-)

Thanks in advance.

Joachim

P.S.: Why is it not possible to write c o m p a r i s o n here in this message, I always get **** instead of it??? Does it belong to a spam filter?

By the way, what are some of the recent developments for phpwcms? I've been over in the TYPOlight forum a lot lately, so I haven't been able to keep up with wcms' development.

Have the following modules / features been implemented yet?
- Front-end & back-end users, groups and permissions
- Calendar module
- Forum bridge that allows user registration / authentication of front-end users to also take affect in a forum
- Live update or auto-patching system
- Lightbox
- Accordions

I know a lot of these things have been worked on as hacks / mods, but I am curious if any of them have been implemented into the core system.

Hi Ben,

the most of this things you have enumerated are comming up nearly.
Have a look: http://www.phpwcms.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13742
O.G. wrote:Here are the main improved features you will see in one of the coming release:

* Permissions for backend and frontend
* Better article listing
* Custom data handling
* News
* Calendar
* Blog
* Media Gallery
* Centralized settings handling
* Easier installation and optimized upgrading
* More flexibility for templates
* Tags
* Lot of additional features

O.G. wrote:Following tasks are planned:

* Usergroups
* Better user administration
* Usergroup based permissions
o read/write/view
o grant access to content in frontend/backend
o which modules can be access
* better frontend login
* frontend user administration/profile
* frontend user registration
* workflow: write/edit & publish & archive
* blog module for phpwcms
* global comments for article without need to add content part
* general module to see/edit all comments

List of tasks are just draft and as always will/can be enhanced!
But never we will see a "Live update or auto-patching system". In my eys thats an very dangerous feature. I hope this is a fallacious statement from me in future for tl. ....... (No control, custom modules, server patches ....)

- Accordions: For me thats only a fashion. For some particular cases it´s ok, but in most uses I can´t see a advantage. (I have had a look to your own site and ..... the old layout without accordions was the better one for me).
- Lightbox is running.
- Calender modul is under development
- Simple Frontend-Login is running (More is still under dev.)
- Forum: I don´t know, but there is a blog planed. (For me a simple forum would be the better application).

- CP pagination implemented
- Banner modul implemented
- Glossary modul implemended
- Teaser CP implemented
- CP Guestbook with pictures implemented
- CP FAQ implemented
- Very powerfull navigation UL LI implemented

- The most CPs have there own selectable template

- And some more things which makes the handling a little bit easier.

Most CPs have there own selectable template

Code: Select all

while (CP == contentparts){
    $thats_one_of_my_real_favorites=true;
    $offers_design_flexibility=true;
};

Hey there, John. I haven't forgotten you all ... I've just been spending a lot of my time elsewhere these days. :(

How are things for you all?
