Hello all,
Proud to present:
http://www.mikana.nl/lightfurniture - Mikana Light & Furniture (NL)
A Dutch light & furniture producing company, presenting their products, projects and themselves to the public. Ease to use, accessible and Search Engine Optimized website.
Running phpwcms 1.3.9 xhtml 1.0 Strict
custom product / project catalog module.
Also Googlemaps component to display Projects.
Complete separated content, layout and behaviour as it should be. Valid XHTML, although some errors still occur because of backend implementations. To be cleaned soon. Used unobtrusive jQuery and custom Javascript-code to add behaviour and extra interaction to the site. Works well on modern browsers (I currently leave out Internet Explorer 6, as its use descends nowadays). All code, visuals and text made on a Mac!
Did this project in 8 months, investigating in types of content took most of the time, as wel as communication with client on Information Architecture...
By the way: it should compete with another Dutch producer (De Nood): http://www.denood.nl (Flash)...
Feel free to shoot your comments!

Hoi Mathijs,
Yes I like it very much. Nice and clean.
And of course some (personal) points:
- I don't really like the menu when having sub-items. I'd rather have a 'classic' pulldown menu so you'll still see (a part) of the background. But that's tatse.
- I got a bit confused under light -> klassiek and the 'picture navigation' under 'een deel uit het assortiment'. First 5 times I thought nothing happened. Later I noticed that there's more information about a paticulair 'armatuur' at the bottom of the page. Was cofusing for me.
- under 'furniture producten' the images om the right are all in one line below eacht other. Why not use the images div content part there with some 'cropped' square thumnails, looks much nicer.
- the 'algemene voorwaarden' pdf link (disclaimer page) gives a 404, page not found.
Greetz,
Axel

Re: Light & Furniture company
Thanks Alex for your feedback.
I will resolve last errors and usability issues next week. I've updated the site with a new section (Projects):
http://www.mikana.nl/lightfurniture/projecten-light-nl
It's Googlemaps but also text for javascript-disabled viewers (like Google search ).
Let me know what you think of it. Thanks!
