Strange... I've just observed samme problem in 1.3.5

Only thing is that 14 days ago there was no problem.
And the only difference is that the new "problem"-images are bigger (around 1.4 Mb).
- can that be an issue..?
file_maxsize=2097152 in conf.inc.php
