I agree that the server4u conditions leaves something to wish, but I've seen even worse. I don't really get that this is OK, but maybe it is in Germany. Worst I've seen was '25€/monat' with the condition that you signed up for a year - and that price went to 70€/monat after 6 months. Also with the 3 ...

The main problem is that these are dynamic programs - the logs alone won't cut it, there are also temporary files and the databases. A counter on a page wouldn't be able to count, using database OR file - the site files would still be 'locked' on the disc.

Use a USB-pen instead for sites you can't ...

Yep, set to 755. (This is default for FTP made folders, yes?)

Missing on the list above:

9) DIR phpwcms_filestorage 777
10) DIR phpwcms_template 777
11) DIR content 777
12) setup/setup.conf.inc.php 777

I think I got it running now, seems there was some issue with the last build we used - I could ...

You mean in sub-sub-dir?

Ofcourse this is no problem at all for me (or I wouldn't have been such a happy poster), this was just to help you fix it, to prevent future problems and wasted explanation time on forum ;)

After giving it a little thought, i don't really think these things are related ...

on Apache 2 under Win XP

Don't know if this is related, but installing in sub-subdir under Apache2 (for testing), installation shows:

php: v4.3.6 <- yeah my own UniServer - running with mmcache 2.4.6! ;)

:D I'll cheat and do what I always do; I'll name TotalCommander as #1. Yup, it can be used without buying a licence, but I did anyway. That generally covers it for file handling, FTP, renaming & search functions, texteditor, viewer etc.

#2 Miranda IM messenger. Generally it handles all the stuff my ...

I'd suggest starting it thru a VBS-file. UniServer is (well, can be anyway) started this way. (This HIDES the console command window, it doesn't tray it!)

Try making an example.vbs: Dim WSHShell, dir, fso, f1
Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
Set WSHShell = WScript.CreateObject ...

Well, the UniServer is a really simple Apache installation, yes - as a matter of fact, it requires no installation at all and is thus superb for having a complete webserver with sites and all on t.ex. a USB stick. I'm no master at handling an apache/mysql myself yet, but I don't imagine it taking ...

You need a script which parses the XML-info and displays it as html.

I know of several mods for phpbb that does just that, but standalone... hmm, lets see...
