My Site running with rewrite-URL ON .
Example: http://ww2.estg.ipleiria.pt/~fbatista/phpwcms/53.103.0.0.1.0.html .
$phpwcms["rewrite_url"] = 1;
$phpwcms["wysiwyg_editor"] = 2 ;

with file .htaccess in DIR phpWCMS
php_flag magic_quotes_gpc Off
php_flag register_globals Off

RewriteEngine On ...

I have all my Sites running with rewrite-URL ON without any Problems!
As far as I know there is no Part in FCK where a 'rewriting' of URL is used.
What happens when rewrite is On on your Site?

For FCKeditor to function.

I suggested the use of phpgacl for the permissions of the groups, users, features... of phpwcms.
The phpgacl is a very powerful tool.

I see - you mix frontend - what you see normally when not logged in and backend where oyu can edit all information.

frontend users is under construction and will be available on weekend. Then your problem can be solved.
