It seems you do not have the necessary config entry into the conf.inc.php
Check the "other stuff" part and replace the default settings:

$phpwcms["rewrite_url"] = 0;

with this one:

$phpwcms["rewrite_url"] = 1;

Open Notepad save the file as myscript.php (into phpwcms root directory) type in:

?>

Now open your template (within the administration interface) and place the
{PHP:myscript.php} Function somewhere in your template.

Now open the phpwcms frontend
