I have tried the url rewrite from phpwcms but that leaves the extension (.phtml) in the url

How to remove the index.php? from urls

Hello,

I'm running phpwcms version 1.3.9

My urls are like http://www.mysite.com/index.php?contact
I would like to have the urls without the index.php? like http://www.mysite.com/contact

Is this possible and how can I do it?
